You may already know Lake Hohenwarte from the shore. Elvira offers a different view — and, above all, time with the people you bring aboard.
There is no fixed timetable. Talk to Frank directly about your trip. Together you can agree on a departure time and how long you would like to spend on the water.
How do you want to spend the day?Built in 1968, Elvira is your skippered boat on Lake Hohenwarte. Up to 18 guests can join Frank on a private boat trip. You agree the date and journey personally with him.
YOUR CAPTAIN
Elvira is Frank’s own boat, and as her captain he loves taking guests out on the lake. Frank Traeger is a professional skipper and a passionate musician. His humour and his joy in giving people a wonderful time are just as much a part of who he is.
Join Frank aboard and you will soon meet the warm, fun-loving soul of MS Elvira. In 2026 he celebrates his 70th birthday. His experience on the water and his welcoming nature make every trip special.

YOUR TIME ON THE WATER
The lake looks different from the water. We set off together and choose where to go. For a while, you can simply relax and watch the shores drift by.
THE THURINGIAN SEA
The lake winds between wooded hillsides, revealing a different view around each bend. Our cruising area extends from the dam to Ziegenrück. We will discuss how much you would like to explore before your trip.

WHERE WE MOOR
Your trip starts at the Hotel Saalestrand jetty. This is where you come aboard before heading out onto the lake. If you would prefer a different boarding point, arrange it with Frank in advance.

FINDING US
You will find Elvira in Saalthal-Alter at the Hotel Saalestrand jetty. We meet there at the agreed time. Directions lead to the hotel; the boat is moored at its jetty. Arrange any other boarding point with Frank in advance.
